
DEVELOPMENT DIRECTOR
Broadway By the Bay is seeking a Development Director to manage all aspects of $1.6 million organization’s fundraising activities, working closely with the Executive Director, Board and staff to execute the fiscal development plan to raise budgeted contributed income of $410,000 (FY 2012).
Essential Responsibilities:
Individual & Major Donors
- Manage donor cultivation, solicitation, and acknowledgment correspondence and materials
- Manage donor stewardship including planning and implementing individual recognition programs and events, benefit fulfillment, and personal contact with donors; manage and cultivate endowment and planned giving contributions
- Develop and facilitate giving campaigns and appeal letters, brochures and email blasts.
- Coordinate with staff and volunteers to ensure proper acknowledgement of all funders and donors in relevant print publications
Institutional Giving
- Develop annual plan for institutional support; research and write grant proposals including narrative and financial reports; manage all grant submission and reporting deadlines
- Identify new foundation and corporation prospects; work with ED and Marketing team to design and implement corporate sponsorship projects
- Research new grant opportunities, submit letters of inquiry, contact new and existing foundations and government agencies, and write grant proposals and reports including financial reports based on the grant tracking system
- Grow and maintain corporate and foundation support and sponsorships and relations
- Act as primary liaison between foundation representatives and BBBay.
Special Events
- Plan and execute special events including the annual gala, opening night receptions, plan Season Preview reception,Spotlight Circlemajor donor receptions and other events
- Train and coordinate staff and volunteers for events; work closely with vendors, donors, event committees and Board Members
Administration
- Work closely with Executive Director, Board of Directors, staff and volunteers to ensure coordination of all fundraising activities
- Work with BBBay bookkeeper to ensure proper coding of grants and gifts in database and bookkeeping software
- Manage information systems and maintain patron/donor database and files
- Attend staff meetings and other meetings as needed
Direct Mail
- Design and implement all aspects of direct mail, telefunding, and subscription add-on gift appeals including planning, budgeting, managing resources, and lead generation
- Assist in planning, budgeting, working with media, graphic, and printing vendors to manage resources to gain net results; assist in reviewing press releases, edit and proof printed media and web content; write copy for enewsletter, season brochure and subscription renewal brochures
- Track and analyze appeal performance and make recommendations for increasing results
- Keep up-to-date on current fund raising programs, practices and procedures being utilized in the non-profit sector
Minimum Qualifications:
- Minimum of three years development experience–preference to those with previous experience at an established performing arts nonprofit organization.
- Demonstrable experience with fundraising principles, such as restrictions to revenue and its release, tax-deductibility details, etc.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills; ability to communicate effectively with a wide variety of individuals, including individual donors, foundation representatives, Board members and maintain confidentiality and handle situations of a highly sensitive nature.
- Demonstrated computer skills (PC), including proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel, database and ticketing software.
- Proficient in working with nonprofit organizational financial statements and project budgets.
- Demonstrated affinity for interacting with individual donors and other funders.
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team, take initiative, and be proactive with attention to detail.
- Ability to lift 35 pounds; current, valid CA driver’s license and ability to drive a car if needed.

COSTUME DEPARTMENT
Costume Supervisor - Duties consist primarily of taking actors measurements, transporting costumes back and forth from rental facilities to the theatre, monitoring the condition and location of costumes during the run and making alterations to the rented costumes . This is a paid position.
